Art News, of sorts. | Issue #24

Happy Wednesday!

This week I sat down to begin writing part 12 of my life growing up and how I see it as influencing my art and work with silver.

I’m a bit tired though, to be honest, and I think I’d like to try something new this week.  Given that I would still like to talk a little bit about my first attempt at making silver jewelry for a living, I will do my best to write about that next time.  It may be my last newsletter and blog post where I talk about my life growing up for a while.  At this point, I feel like I’ve touched upon most of the important points, though admittedly I’ve left out many personal experiences that I am not ready to share at this stage of my life.

At some point I got it into my head that I was, “supposed to get a real job,” and did that and raised a family.  It’s certainly not irrelevant to artistic influences, however, what I’ve written about so far is much more pertinent.  From my perspective anyway.

So this week, I’m going to share a couple of photos of things I have been working on and provide a few notes and then wish you a happy holiday weekend, being Memorial Day weekend here in the States.

This is a made-to-order runic name pendant which I delivered to a customer this week!  She was so happy and I loved how her face lit up when I gave it to her!  The name on the pendant is, "Sabine".

The following pictures show my progress on the engraved sterling silver bracelet cuffs I am processing after I had a 6 x 6 inch piece of sterling silver sheet engraved by an engraving business here in Vermont.  It's taking a little longer than I had hoped to cut, hammer and polish these for sale, but they'll be done sooner than later (unless I get more name pendant orders!)

Finally, a new Odhroerir pendant I'm working to finish up for sale in the online store here!
I know some of you may be disappointed that I didn't write a whole book this week!  If you're one of those people, know that I'm working on writing more, as I can.  It can be very time consuming and I really am doing my best to focus on making more of my jewelry to sell.
Until next time,
Justin
